Oral formulations of antihistamines (like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and Corticosteroids (like hydrocortisone) may be used to treat poison ivy rash. Both of these products are available over the counter.





Triamcinolone is a prescription only corticosteroid. The topical cream may be used to treat poison ivy. Apply a thin film sparingly to affected areas. Do not use on open skin or wounds.
