Is it ok to use triamcinolone acetonide cream for a fungus rash?

my friend put some of this on me for my rash but is it safe for this type of rash???Is it ok to use triamcinolone acetonide cream for a fungus rash?
They give that stuff to babies for yeast related diaper rash, but the safer alternative for everyone is to use a powdered refrigerated form of live cultures like what are in yogurt (should have acidophilus in it and other beneficial bacteria). That will clear up yeast pretty fast. Toward the end of my pregnancy I always took a teaspoon of the powder every day, and then continued for a while after the birth. I also mixed half a teaspoon with a tiny bit of water and fed it to my newborn with an eyedropper to prevent thrush in the mouth and yeast related diaper rash. I bought my powder (which was the kind for children) at Whole Foods, but most healthfood stores would have it.

Does Triamcinolone Acetonide cream really work?

my dermatologist prescribed this to me 3 days ago for my skin. Im a brown skin african american female, i have really dry skin, dark blotches, bad bug bites, dark knees and elbows, and i suffered from eczema years back which cleared up but left dark marks.... anyways so she prescribed me Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% cream and said it would even out my skin tone and make my skin much softer... and it would lighten my skin color about 1 shade lighter...

It doesnt' work for acne == it just reduces the inflammation (reddness).

I do hope you are not using it on your face - it can cause discoloration and thinning of the skin if you use it a lot.

You need to be using a cleanser without fragrances or dyes, use a different sponge or washcloth each time - bacteria can live on wet sponges/washcloths and then when you use it, you put it back on your body. Then apply a product that has benzoyl peroxide - which will help kill any bacteria on your skin and prevent future breakouts.

The doctor can also prescribe other medication - like a retinoid - if the above doesn't work.

    good luck.

Triamcinolone cream is a steroid cream -it is similar to hydrocortisone cream (available OTC) but much stronger.

It is usually prescribed to treat itchy, irritated skin. A side effect is that it can thin and lighten your skin.

    Triamcinolone vs hydrocortisone cream?

which one is betetr?Triamcinolone vs hydrocortisone cream?
It just depends on what you're using it for. Triamcinolone is much stronger, but you should not use it on sensitive areas like your face, it can thicken your skin there or you may have a reaction to it. Hydrocortisone is not so strong, so depending on what you're using it for maybe start with that and if it doesn't work try the triamcinolone, but, again, only use it on tougher areas of skin.

For dark spots in the cheeks will Triamcinolone Acetonide cream 0.1% cure it .And does it come from the scalp.

    Maybe...read about clay...it can help!

    Triamcinolone acetonide cream?

can this cream be used on jock itchTriamcinolone acetonide cream?
well my doctor prescribed nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide Cream for a fungus i had on my face.... so a jock itch is a fungus. but to be safe especially if it wasn't prescribed to you just go to the store and buy some jock itch creamTriamcinolone acetonide cream?
If you truly have jock itch, the use of triamcinolone cream (a steroid cream) will diminish your body's ability to fight the infection, and hence you'd run the risk of worsening the infection by using the cream. You'd need to use an antifungal cream for the jock itch. (Of course, you also have to know that there are two types of jock itch: mold fungus and yeast fungus, and the two don't always respond to the same antifungal creams.)
It's a prescription hydrocortisone cream. Jock itch is usually caused by a fungus (it's basically a male yeast infection). You're better off going to walmart or riteaid and getting an over the counter cream designed specifically for the fungus that causes jock itch, like Lotrimin.
No - that's a steriod cream if you really have jock itch you'll need to get an anti-fungal cream

Triamcinolone is a standard first line treatment for eczema. Eczema is an auto-immune skin disease. Triamcinolone acetonide is a prescription strength cortico-steroid.

You need to get medical advice from your doctor. Can triamcinolone acetonide cream usp 0.1% be used to treat eczema?
    Hi Pookie,

Good question. The answer is yes and I'd just like to give you a little background on the medication so you can understand how it works.

Triamcinolone is a synthetic corticosteroid (a chemical reaction steroid hormone produced in the adrenal cortex) that is used to decrease inflammation by acting within cells to prevent the release of certain chemicals that are important in the immune system. These chemicals are normally involved in producing immune and allergic responses, resulting in inflammation. By decreasing the release of these chemicals in a particular area, inflammation is reduced. This can help control a wide number of conditions characterized by excessive inflammation. Since Eczema is a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the upper layers of the skin a mild steroid such as Hydrocortisone or Desonide can be used or in more severe cases Triamcinolone can be used to control or suppress the symptoms caused by Eczema. These creams do not cure Eczema, but your answer is yes, this cream can be used. However before using the cream for Eczema you should contact your doctor since the type of Eczema you are referring to may require a less resilient cream (not so strong).

    Amonda
Its good stuff - pretty strong.

You could also consider exederm cream and wash to help avoid irritants and prevent more problem. But don't get their flare cream cause the tramcinolone is more powerful

www.exederm.com is the name of the site - its quite good

Question about triamcinolone acetonide cream usp 0.1%?

can this topical medication interfere with the your natural production of cortisol in any way? i mean even a little bit? what about if used for a 3year period 2x a day?Question about triamcinolone acetonide cream usp 0.1%?
    This is an excellent question.

Kenalog (triamcinolone acetonide cream usp 0.1%) applied bid, like many topical corticosteroid preparations, can be absorbed from normal intact skin. Inflammation and/or other disease processes in the skin increase percutaneous absorption as does the use of occlusive dressings, as these substantially increase the percutaneous absorption of topical corticosteroid as does usage over a large surface area, usage for a prolonged time period and, invariably, underlying skin inflammation and/or disease.

The concentration of the preparation varies directly with the degree of absorption and thus serum levels. With the topical use of this cream over a prolonged period of time, there is evidence for the production reversible HPA (hypothalamic-pituiatry adrenal) axis suppression, manifestations of Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia, and glucosuria and thus it is recommended that patients applying Kenalog 0.1% for a prolonged period of time (at the discretion of the treating physician) be evaluated periodically for evidence of HPA axis suppression by using the urinary free cortisol and ACTH stimulation tests.Question about triamcinolone acetonide cream usp 0.1%?
Wow - thank you for asking me to look at this question.

Well, there is no clinical data to demonstrate either way that it does or that it does not interfere with your natural production of cortisol.

This stuff is marketed in Australia under the name ';Aristocort'; and is a strong steroid cream for the treatment of eczema, dermatitis and a variety of skin ailments. (Although we actually only use a 0.02% preparation)

The side effect profile listed does not include Cushing's disease (which is the usual result of oral or injected steroids over a long period of time) but it is known to be absorbed systemically into the blood stream - known to have half life of 2-5hrs and to be metabolised mostly in the liver to biologically inactive compounds which are excreted in the urine.

It is quite possible to theorize that a 0.1% preparation used regularly on a large area of damaged skin (which is why you'd be given the stuff in the first place) for a long period of time could have an effect on the adrenal glands and DECREASE your normal production of cortisol (iatrogenic Cushing's disease).

Proving it would be a different (and more difficult) matter.

Incidentally, I am not an expert in this area. You would do better to consult a pharmacologist or dermatologist.

Interestingly, drugs.com lists bony fractures and mood changes (side effects of systemic corticosteroids) among the side effects ... although Cushing's disease is not listed here either.

I hope this answer has been helpful.

    Regards.
Prolonged use of this medication may develop systemic effects especially when spread on a large area of the skin. It may affect the hypothalamus, pituitary glands, and adrenals. since Cortisol is produced by the adrenals and stimulated by the pituitary and hypothalamus, then it may be affected and result in Cushing's syndrome.
Topical triamcenalone can be used without side effects on skin for Acne vulgaris and some other conditions.Recurrence can occur but that is not a side effect.

Can i use triamcinolone acetonide cream usp,o.1% on my poision ivy rash?

Oral formulations of antihistamines (like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and Corticosteroids (like hydrocortisone) may be used to treat poison ivy rash. Both of these products are available over the counter.

Triamcinolone is a prescription only corticosteroid. The topical cream may be used to treat poison ivy. Apply a thin film sparingly to affected areas. Do not use on open skin or wounds.

Will triamcinolone acetonide cream help with jock itch ?

No, it will only help the itch and it will not kill the fungus. You can by miconazole nitrate over the counter and use them both together. So the triamcinolone will help the itch and the miconazole will take care of the fungus. A word of caution on using any topical steroid is that they will thin the skin so be cautious when using them. Use only as directed and when the fungus is gone stop using the steroid.

  • Can triamcinolone acetonide cream be used for pioson ivy?

I don't know but I had an awful case of ivy back in May/June. It was even on my face and I had these huge boil things [about half an inch big!] filled with puss on my arms. It was nasty. Well I went to my doc and he gave me this dumb cream for 100 bucks that did nothing.

Then I went to see another doctor and she gave me this foam in a can, kind of like whipped cream that you apply and some pills, about 20 of them for 5 bucks and a shot. It worked like a miracle. That foam was like a godsend, it cleared up in about 3 days. Go to a dermatologist and ask for the foam. Creams+calamine lotion do nothing. And OTC meds can take 2 weeks at the least to 2 months depending on the severity to work. Can triamcinolone acetonide cream be used for pioson ivy?

I have plaque psoriasis, does desoximetasone and triamcinolone creams work the same?

I was first prescribed desoximetasone, which seemed to work good, however was very expensive. I was then prescribed triamcinolona cream, and I was wondering if anyone know if one was better or what. Thanks!I have plaque psoriasis, does desoximetasone and triamcinolone creams work the same?
Desoximetasone is a higher-potency corticosteroid than triamcinolone, but triamcinolone may provide just as much relief. You generally obtain the best results with ';combination therapy';, when you use a topical corticosteroid along with a medication like salicylic acid and or a vitamin D cream (calcipotriene). However, phototherapies are more effective than drugs and have fewer side effects than most systemic agents. In a 2000 analysis comparing psoriasis treatments, an advanced phototherapy called narrow band UVB achieved the highest complete clearance rate (86% of patients).

Good luck!I have plaque psoriasis, does desoximetasone and triamcinolone creams work the same?
My daughter has severe psoriasis. One thing that can help is tanning , either natural or go to a tanning salon. My daughter also has diabetes and some of her medicine gives her a bad reaction when she is exposed to the sun or tanning salon, so she is unable to use this type of treatment. It does work tho. She has done it, but she gets sick when she does.
My best friend has psoriasis and he wasted so much money on desoximetasone creams. He later switched to triamcinolone creams and it worked the same and was cheaper!

Is thinning of the skin a TRIAMCINOLONE STEROID cream side effect?

I have eczema and was prescribe triamcinolone cream sort of like ( the thick Euricen cream). I used it for years and then the skin on my inner thighs and hips where I used the cream the most began to thin and wrinkle. My skin started to turn silvery-white and then darkened over the years. I went to a new dermatologist and he said that it was from using the cream too much and then prescribed me Elidel (that did not help) is this a common side effect and if so is there anything to reverse thinning of the skin? It looks as though I have strechmarks from far away until you get closer and see that my skin is actually very thin and wrinkled. So is this a common side effect? and how do I reverse the thinning of the skin I was thinking about get surgery to have the skin on my inner thighs removed but I don't think this is possible being that I'm a very petite women and probably don't have enough skin for the surgeon to stitch me back together. Is thinning of the skin a TRIAMCINOLONE STEROID cream side effect?
absolutely. These products should not be used in cosmetically sensitive areas, like the face. Stop the product, and several months to a year later there may be some improvement. I do not know of any antidote other than time...Is thinning of the skin a TRIAMCINOLONE STEROID cream side effect?

Do you think I could use Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream Usp 0.1% for Pityriasis Rosea?
Well, generally doctors say that there's no treatment necessary with Pityriasis Rosea. In most patients, the condition lasts only a matter of weeks; in some cases it can last longer (up to six months). Topical or oral steroids may be prescribed in cases of severe itching. However, I'm a bit wary in using triamcinolone acetonide for this condition as it is 8 times more effective than most steroid ointments. If you really have to use it, please limit on the affected area and use sparingly (as necessary).

I had this at home for my eczema, husband got bitten by spider, it was all red, itchy and nasty, so we put it on it. It got even worse. I would suggest just plain hydrocortisone cream. By the way, when this happened, we went to the doc, and found out that most spider bites, even from non-poisonous, get really infected. Keep a watch on it. If it gets bigger or you see streaking. Go to the doc right away.

How long does it take eczema to go away after using aristocort cream or generic triamcinolone acetonide cream?

    Hi Neighbor

Not sure about creams you're reffering to but here are some other ideas to help the healing process.

Here is a herb remedy that will work.

    1. Take 1-3 droppersful of Echinacea Plus Tincture (at herbdoc.com or another qualified site) to strengthen the immune system.

    2. Rub Garlic oil ALL over the affected area (Garlic will kill anything if you use enough of it)

    3. Give 1-3 glasses of Activated Charcoal Slurry per day (to absorb the toxins out of the blood)

    4. Mix equal parts of Aloe Vera Gel, Slippery Elm Powder and Activated Charcoal Powder together (absorbs the toxins externally)

    5. Apply a thin layer of this mixture over the AFFECTED area(s).

    6. Continue this treatment, until the desired Results are achieved.

This is healing at it's highest point.

    Cause

Eczema is often called Dermatitis, and may be a symptom of an omega-3 fatty acid deficiency. Eczema can be due to allergies, allergies secondary to digestive disorders such as hydrochloric acid deficiency, rashes secondary to immune diseases, genetic metabolic disorders, and/or nutritional deficiencies, especially of niacin (vitamin B3) and B6, as well as other B vitamins.

To minimize your risk of developing eczema, avoid irritating substances, wear natural nonirritating materials, use soothing ointments, and check to see if dietary, nutritional, and/or and allergy-causing factors need to be considered.

    Other ideas that will help:

Juice Therapy: The following juice combinations can help speed healing: black currant and red grapes; carrot, beet, spinach, cucumber, and parsley; and wheat grass juice.

Nutritional Supplementation: Vitamin A and GLA (gamma-linolenic acid), an omega-6 essential fatty acid found in high quantities in evening primrose oil, have both been shown to improve the symptoms of eczema. Vitamin E. Other useful supplements for preventing and reversing eczema include vitamin B complex, vitamin B6, vitamin E, magnesium, and zinc.

Topical Treatment: Apply evening primrose oil directly to cracked and sore areas of the skin. A topical paste made from ginkgo and licorice root extract has also been shown to improve eczema symptoms.

What would happen if I put Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream on acne?

just wonderingWhat would happen if I put Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream on acne?
i have actually done this it helped clear my acne up faster

Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream contains a certain type of steroids that helps skin rebuild and regenerate faster and is usually perscribed to treat rashes and things of that natureWhat would happen if I put Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream on acne?
The only thing is that this topical steroid is doing is taking away the inflammation. Your acne needs to be treated under the skin and dermatologists usually start with a benzoyl peroxide and add something such as Retin-A or Differn. See your dermatologist for the best help.
your not supposed to put any kind of steroid cream on your face. it thins the skin, and you will end up having worse skin later on, you will start noticing capillaries and veins. Get some retinol cream like retin a it works very well for acne
I think you'd be fine but you may want to call a CVS or a Walgreens and ask a pharmacist's opinion.

I have to put triamcinolone topical cream all over my body, will I experience weight gain?

My dermatologist wants me to soak in hot water and then spread the cream all over my body to absorb the topical cream, will I experience weight gain by doing this?I have to put triamcinolone topical cream all over my body, will I experience weight gain?
Probably not unless you really overdo the amount of triamcinolone you are applying or you apply the cream for many months or years at very high dosages. The treatment with triamcinolone that you describe is a standard treatment for extreme itching caused by one type of cutaneous lymphoma. I have never read about weight gain associated with this type treatment when used as a cutaneous cancer treatment. Just don't glob on huge amounts of the cream and follow your Dr's dosing instructions carefully. Triamcinolone taken internally is much more likely to cause some slight weight gain than the topically applied cream.

  • Can TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE CREAM be used for poison oak and poison ivy?

Can TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE CREAM be used for poison oak and poison ivy?

Hydrocortisone cream which is a less potent steroid than triamcinolone is the strongest steroid cream you can get over the counter in the USA. If you need something stronger then you either have to get the prescription or possibly buy it from a foreign based pharmacy over the internet.

Be carefull because use of the stronger steroids has more of a chance of having side effects, thinningg out your skin, cause striae

Where can i get triamcinolone acetonide cream? I want to try it for my eczema on my lips, can i get it at CVS/WALGREENS without being prescribed it?Where can i get triamcinolone acetonide cream?
Yes, this is an OTC creme and it's available at any pharmacy. I hope this works for you, but you know that this is used manly for bacterial infection problems. Eczema is more of a skin problem so I'm not so sure if it will be a waste of money for you. Why not ask the pharmacist which OTC creams or other types of topical medications that would be best to try. As this is a free service why not take advantage of their expertise in the knowledge of medications. Good luck and God Bless

This is the story I hear over and over again. People hope that prescribed medications will cure eczema. They don't - they only remove symptoms for a short period of time and on the expense of burdening your body with chemicals. Eczema will return. I suggest you start educating yourself about natural methods to cure eczema and how to eliminate the root cause - weak immune system. A great article to start with can be found here:

Same as me! What I do is put a special cream on it whenever I wash my hands. I use gloves in the Winter. You only have to do this in the Winter. It's hardly visible when I put on the cream, so no one notices it.

It will stay with me and you for the rest of our lives, but only in Winter, so don't worry. It's not a big deal. Just remember that your not alone!
once you get eczema it sticks with you for the rest of your life. There lots of creams out there that make it disappear for a while but it always comes back.
it should fade alot by this saturday....don't worry!

Are facial creams containing salicylic acid safe to use during pregnancy?

    Found this for you:

    Salicylic acid

This mild acid is used to treat certain skin disorders, including acne, and you can find it in a number of skin products, such as cleansers and toners. It can penetrate facial oils to get deep into pores and clean out dead skin cells. Salicylic acid is in the aspirin family, so it can also help reduce inflammation or redness. BHA, or beta hydroxy acid, is a form of salicylic acid and is used in some topical exfoliants to reverse signs of aging.

But salicylic acid is another no-no for pregnant women. High doses of the acid in its oral form have been shown in studies to cause birth defects and various pregnancy complications.

Again, doctors are being cautious by recommending that pregnant women avoid the topical use of salicylic acid. Small amounts applied to the skin 鈥?such as a salicylic acid-containing toner used once or twice a day 鈥?are considered safe, says Johnson.

But the concern is stronger about face and body peels containing salicylic acid. ';This kind of 'soaking' in the ingredient is similar to taking one or more aspirin when pregnant,'; she explains.

';More product used equals more absorption into the bloodstream,'; adds Baumann. Always check with your doctor before having a peel treatment. Better yet, she advises, if you must have a peel, have it done professionally at your dermatologist's office. A dermatologist will know how to do it safely during pregnancy.

    On the label:

    Salicylic acid

    Beta hydroxy acid

    BHA

Note: Alpha hydroxy acids, sometimes listed as AHAs, glycolic acid, or lactic acid, are safe.

    Bottom line:

    Best to avoid

As almost everybody hast told you salicylic acid can be found in wart removers, the range for a wart remover is between 17 and 35%, but i could be wrong

some times you can find it in small pharmacys
most over-the-counter acne products contain it...creams, ointments, face washes, astringents, scrubs, even some moisturizers. look at the drug store or discount store like walmart, target, etc.
Any major brand that makes face wash also makes some kind of acne cream w/ salicylic acid. (clean and clear, noxzema...)
pepto bismol and kaopectate has it in there
lower doses of it are in acne medicine/wash... and higher concentrations of it are in wart remover.

SALICYLIC ACID is found in wart removers.
I don't know about chemists but I have seen it in several ointments for horses.
    usually acne creams and meds.

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/uspdi/202516.html Please read this carefully, there are health warnings for this...very informative.

Salicylic Acid can be used for a myriad of things. From acne to warts. Look at the back label of products that are along the lines you are looking. If for acne, look at the back label for the percentage of this ingredient in the little round tubs with the round wet pads in them. As for dandruff, look at the back of dandruff shampoos for the percentage. Look for the highest you can since the FDA keeps strict rules about the percentages per type of usage, sometimes the companies (brand name products) use the max or a lower percentage for the same product. Why buy something that isn't going to include the percentage amount recommended for you and proper treatment remedy.

What cleansers or creams have salicylic acid at around 2%?

Can anyone recommend a good anti-aging cream with Beta Hydroxy / Salicylic Acid?

Before spending an arm and a leg on a product, I really would like some input from people out there who have experience with different brands, etc. Is there one brand or type that is known for being the most effective? I am looking for something with at least 2% Beta Hydroxy (aka Salicylic Acid). Any testimonials or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!Can anyone recommend a good anti-aging cream with Beta Hydroxy / Salicylic Acid?

I love Arbonne's anti-aging products. here are some before and afters: http://www.arbonne.com/company/people/be鈥?/a>

I like the eye cream, as a mother of 3 young kids, the lines and dark circles were bad.... Also, my mother-in-law uses the body wash and lotion and loves it. Most people that try it do very well with the anti-aging line.

I use MD Forte. It has glycolic acid which is what you want. It is a wonderful product and has really helped with the fine lines. I also use the facial cleanser and it helps shrink large pores. It is available at dermatologists offices.
If you are open to a new suggestion, I use an anti-aging cream with Alpha Hydroxy 8% by Walgeens, it is simply called Alpha Hydroxy Face Cream and comes in a white jar, black lid, costs about $9.00. Alpha Hydroxy is a non-toxic derivative from sugar cane and is known for its exfoliating (removes dead skin cells) and rejuvenating effects. It tightens and firms skin, and I have been using it for over a year. I am mid(ahem) forties and do not have any wrinkles! I also wear sunscreen, and makeup with sunscreen added to make sure I don't get sunburned on my face.
salicylic acid is very drying and i doubt it would be of help in an anti aging cream, they are usually alpha hydroxy products, which is what one doctor on oprah said was the only product proven to really improve the look of your aging skin. its not expensive, alpha hydrox brand was about 6 dollars a bottle when i tried it.
I personally have not tried this, but Olay has Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Moisturizer http://olay.com/boutique/totaleffects/pr鈥?/a> It contains Salicylic Acid as well!

I use Total Effects 7X http://olay.com/boutique/totaleffects/pr鈥?/a> It's an anti-aging moisturizer, but it doesn't contain Salicylic Acid. It's light and it makes a difference in the appearance of my skin.

Give cream name contains only salicylic acid and available in any medical shop?

Duofilm, Mediplast, Occlusal-HP, Compound W, Sal-Plant Gel, Salex, Lupicare II Psoriasis Skin, Lupicare Dandruff, Lupicare Psoriasis Scalp, Therasoft Anti-Acne, Stri-Dex Essential Care, Stri-Dex Facewipes To Go, Stri-Dex Sensitive Skin, Stri-Dex Maximum Strength, Stri-Dex Super Scrub, you can simply ask for salicylic acid cream.

Salicylic acid can cause stinging, burning, and skin irritation. You may also experience dryness, peeling, and flaking of the skin. These side effects can usually be effectively controlled with daily use of an oil-free moisturizer.

Is there a limit on the amount of over the counter skin care cream with salicylic acid you can take into Spain

no, but you cannot carry it in your cabin luggage.

you have to put it into your main luggage that goes into the plane

Can I use Salicylic Acid pads on my face then use Benzoyl Peroxide cream right after it?

oooh intense!!! i have no idea if it's ok but make sure you moisturise with oil free moisturiser if you do because that will dry out your skin something shocking. Drying out your skin will cause it to overproduce oils and make the problem potentially worseCan I use Salicylic Acid pads on my face then use Benzoyl Peroxide cream right after it?
you can use these together. the salicylic acid is just exfoliating your skin, while the benzoyl peroxide is taking care of any bacteria that might cause acne. be careful with benzoyl peroxide though, it is very drying. even if your skin is oily, you need to moisturize. even a lightweight, oil free moisturizer is great. i love the dramatically different gel at clinique, its super lightweight and oil free. its not a cream either, it's gel based.

  • Salicylic acid acne cream gone wrong...?

I think I used it a bitttt too much on my pimple. A layer of my skin has peeled off and beneath has revealed a pink blotch of irritated skin. You can see the difference in skin layers. (It isn't A LOT, but definetly visible from up really close) What should I do? It's right on my nose and completely visible! Should I use neosporin? Vitamin E? I need something to help repair my irritated and red blotch of skin!Salicylic acid acne cream gone wrong...?
Use neosporin before you go to bed. Make sure your face is clean with no makeup and be sure NOT to put a band-aid on your face. The irritated area needs to breath to heal, and the sticky-ness leftover from bandaids are not pretty.

:]Salicylic acid acne cream gone wrong...?
Well I don't want to hurt your feelings or get you all worried. But when your pimple becomes irritated you would HAVE to discontinue use of the product you used, emeditley.

The best and safest thing to do would be to see a Dermatoligist.
use neosporin.. works like a charm. only wash that pimple with soap.. you dont want to irritate it even more. give it some time it'll be gone.. no worries!!
    vitamin E would be good.

Which one is a Good Cream Uses of alpha and beta hydroxyacids, glycolic and salicylic acid?

Which one is a Good Cream Uses of Alpha and Beta hydroxyacids, glycolic and salicylic acid? Should be a good one with no combination of steroid and should available in India.Which one is a Good Cream Uses of alpha and beta hydroxyacids, glycolic and salicylic acid?
ALPHA-HYDROXY ACIDS (AHAs) are compounds found naturally in many common fruits and other foods. The principal AHA is GLYCOLIC ACID, which is found in sugar cane and sugar beets. Other AHAs include LACTIC ACID from dairy products and MALIC ACID from fruit. Glycolic acid is the most skin-active AHA; and its primary action is to accelerate shedding of abnormal cells in the topmost layers of the skin by decreasing their cohesiveness. Continued use of glycolic-acid-based products results in a normalized, more compact top layer of the epidermis. This makes the skin smoother. Additionally, it helps to remove comedones (blackheads); and, like retinol, it helps to restore the barrier function of the skin, thereby helping naturally to increase its own moisture content (and not humidify the environment!). It, too, leads to increased collagen production in the upper dermis, resulting in diminution of fine lines. Glycolic acid also has an anti-inflammatory effect and is able to enhance the effects of other topical agents, such as hydroquinone and salicylic acid. It is well-tolerated by many people, but it can cause irritation and stinging in some. It, too, can make the skin more sun-sensitive; thus, use of effective photo protection is essential.

It depends on your skin type, the severity of your acne and your responsiveness. It doesn't work for everyone; it did for me, but not my sister.

I tried everything from otc remedies including neutrogena, clean and clear and you name it to dermatologists and proactive to no avail. I saw the murad ad on tv 1 night and have been using it about 2 weeks. So far I am seeing noticable improvement.

I thought this was another fly by night thing when it seemed to worsen my acne, but I was told this will happen because your skin is doing what is called purging. I must say so far I am pretty happy with this stuff, it is the only thing that has helped

    good luck
Commercially made products like proactive, Neutrogena and things like are NOT natural. For good skin you need a natural product and to follow some simple steps:

Things to do to help oily face, pimples, blackhead %26amp; the such....

1.) Dont ever pick/pop them... If you must pop them wait till they have a head and use cotton balls. Popping causes the oil %26amp; bacteria to go to near by spots and cause more pimples

2.) Wash your face twice a day.

3.) Do not over wash your face.

4.) Get a natural soap that contains Tea Tree EO. I get mine at:

    http://www.itsyoursoap.com/index.php?mai鈥?/a>

Tea Tree EO kills all the nasty bacterias that causes pimples. A plus this soap doesnt smell girly. Smells like peppermint and cools the skin.

5.) Also get a astringant. But use it only every other day because you do not want to send the oil producing pores into overdrive.

If you follow these things for a few weeks your skin will look great

Just remeber this dry dry skin looks old and worn. You face needs oil to look youthful

See your DoctorWhere can I buy Benzoyl Peroxide acid, cream or gel, Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Salicylic Acid?
Look at the supermarket, usually near the medicine or makeup.

Neutrogena sells a face wash with salicylic acid. It is in a clear pump bottle filled with bright orange gel.

Neutrogena sells a face mask with Benzoyl Peroxide. It is in a white pinched tube. It is usually next to one that is slightly orange, that one is also salicylic acid.

Not sure what the Alpha Hydroxy looks like, but I'm sure it is there.
Benzoyle Peroxide face wash is what you want. You can check any store like Walgreen's to see if they have it. Clearasil, Clean n Clear, and brands like that have face washes containing Benzoyle Peroxide. Same goes for Salacylic Acid (what Aspirin is derived from) is present in things like Clearasil and Clean n Clear.

Another method is to see a doc and try Retin-A cream and/or antibiotics (tetracycline, minocycline) to help clear it.
I wouldn't put Salicylic acid on his back, that's used to burn verrucas off.

I would go to Boots pharmacy and ask their advice. YIKES.

Can you use Lotrimin ( Athletes foot cream) for a vaginal yeast infection? ?

I know that Lotrimin is Clotrimazole Cream which is what a doctor prescibed me when I had a yeast infection a year ago. Now I have another and was wondering if I could just use the Lotrimin cream instead of going to the doctors? Can you use Lotrimin ( Athletes foot cream) for a vaginal yeast infection? ?
I JUST came back form the Dr's and found this question by researchingng it myself and That's what she told me to use. Can you use Lotrimin ( Athletes foot cream) for a vaginal yeast infection? ?
I wouldn't, first because there might be another drug for this specific yeast infection which is better suited for it, and secondly because the strength might be different.
Go to the drugstore and pick up Gyne-Lotrimin. I personally would avoid the Monistat, I've had bad reactions to it in the past.

    Hope you feel better soon!
I wouldn't do it. Just go to the pharmacy and pick up some Monistat. You could be saving youself lots of problems.

Is it safe to use lotrimin AF [clotrimazole cream] on the head of my penis. I think i have a yeast infection?

email from a gentleman who, on the advice of a doctor, had tried using an over-the-counter vaginal cream (Monistat) to treat his penile yeast infection. i guess he just rubbed the stuff on the outside of his penis. anyway, he said that it didn't work at all until he added a few drops of white vinegar to it to a small blob of cream, and then it worked overnight.

he also warned against applying straight vinegar, which eats right through the skin. 'nuff said.

since posting that suggestion, i've received quite a few emails from people whose doctors have recommended applying Monistat directly to the surface of the penis to cure yeast infections. most say it works finehe most common symptom is irritation and soreness of the head of the penis. apparently it can itch like crazy, too.

Symptoms: discharge, including clumpy white stuff, also, the head of the penis may turn reddish or get little blistery things.

Male yeast infection normally occurs after sexual contact or intercourse with women who have the yeast infection. These yeast infections are minor problems. Male yeast infections can be treated with ointments and anti fungal creams. There are many prescription drugs available in the market which are known to treat penile yeast infections. Such yeast infection is also called as Candidiasis.

    Hope this helps.

Is it safe to use lotrimin AF [clotrimazole cream] on the head of my penis. I think i have a yeast infection?
Yes it's safe. You just have to be very thorough to apply it around the penis head for several days until itching and other symptoms disappear. Pull the foreskin down and apply amply. You can also use other creams/lotions that are available (Monistat). Is it safe to use lotrimin AF [clotrimazole cream] on the head of my penis. I think i have a yeast infection?
I can almost guarantee you that you will know if you have a yeast infection. My boyfriend had one once and it almost looked like herpes, to be honest. If you're unsure, go to the doctor or a clinic. You don't want to put any medicated creams on you if you don't know that's even what you have.

Lotrimin is an anti-fungal treatment. So unless it is a rash triggered by yeast (unlikely on the forehead) it won't do a thing for the rash. If the doctor approves try an ointment with hydrocortizone in it. Most rashes shouldn't really have any treatment unless it's bugging baby pretty bad. It's better to find the cause of the rash (oily/overly dry skin, soap/shampoo, lotion, laundry soap)Can I use Lotrimin ultra cream for 4months old baby?

Well since you're only applying the cream to the infected area, I would think the side effects would only apply there unless you have a serious allergy to the cream, in which case a rash in other places of the body would probably occur. Are lotrimin antifungal cream side effects of rash isolated to the area of the jock itch, or all over the body?
It means to the area of where you put the cream. If you have the rash and it is spreading it is probably not jock itch.

  • Can I use Lotrimin antifungal cream on my childrens scalp?

My kids 4 and 7 has a dry patch on their heads my daughter has it a little worst. A doctor suggested Lotrimin antifungal cream for my son. (At the time my daughter did not have it) when I read the directions for Lotrimin it states not effective on scalp or nail. Any suggestions? Can I use Lotrimin antifungal cream on my childrens scalp?
Usually dry, scaly patches of skin on the scalp are more eczema / seborrhea related. Fungal infections of the scalp typically cause hair loss and a bald spot at the site of the infection. A doctor can do a scraping of the skin flakes and have them analyzed for fungal organisms, or look at the rash under a Wood's light (blacklight).

An antifungal may work if you definitely know it's fungal, but Lotrimin is a bit weak. Over-counter Lamisil is best. But if it's seborrheic in nature, you'd be better off trying Selsun Blue or Denorex shampoo on it.

Apply some shampoo directly on the affected area (may use a q-tip), rub in gently right on the rash (don't suds it up), leave for 10 minutes, then rinse. Do this once or twice a day and see it that helps.

There are some stronger solutions available by prescription, such as Synalar (a hydrocortisone solution) that can be used if the Selsun doesn't quite get rid of it.Can I use Lotrimin antifungal cream on my childrens scalp?

Uhhh... Zovirax is for herpes. Mozel tov.

Is your sex life over? No, of course not. But you better disclose the fact that you have it going forward. I would cripple a guy if he knew he had and STD and didn't speak up. Or at the very least I'd tell everyone I ever saw him talking to again.

Which is lousy because that's probably exactly what happened to you. Sorry for your lots.

And never, never have sex w/ an active case.I got sores! How long till they go away with the cream called Zovirax?
Jenni, Zovirax is for Herpes and that is probably what the doc is testing you for. You need to be more careful and get with guys who care that you are ';dry'; and stop, and these days they need to wear protection. I hope its not Herpes, but either way, this should be a good lesson for you. Use protection, because it may not be your sex life in jeapordy it may be your life!!!! The pain should ease up if not call your doc. Over the counter treatment may aggrevate the area and make it worse. Be very careful and remember to wipe from front to back, so that an ecoli infection is not your next problem. Good Luck
Your doctor thinks you have Herpes. Zovirax is used for the treatment of genital Herpes.l If that is so then they will ';never go away'; . They will remain in your spine alive and well and will reappear in breakouts for the rest of your life. Avoid sun exposure it triggers breakouts. Illness and the days before your period are also likely triggers. You will want to ask about suppressive therapy. Inform your partners that you are Herpes postive. Good luck.
Only your doctor would know that answer.
Zovirax is used to treat herpes. You need to use a condom.

Zovirax seems relatively safe during pregnancy. Nevertheless, it should be used only if its benefits outweigh the potential risk to the baby. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. Zovirax appears in breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. If this medication is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding your baby until your treatment with Zovirax is finished.

I have this small pimple like spots on my arms and legs that apper when the weather is hot. They are really small and dry but really itchy. My friend recommended zovirax cream because she also has the same problem. She said a doctor gave it to her for allergies. Does Zovirax really work and what is it really for.Question about Zovirax cream?
If it works in your particular problem I'll say 1.you are using yourself as a guinea pig for experimenting 2. you should publish your success as this has never been described.

Zovirax is an antiviral agent effective in Herpes Zoster. It is NOT an antiallergic agent ,which, may be more appropriate in your case.

    Best Wishes.Question about Zovirax cream?
Zovirax is an anti-funngal cream, so unless it is a fungal infection, i very much it would work.

Sounds like you are getting a heat rash, try taking anti-histamines in the summer to help.

Acyclovir (ay-SYE-kloe-veer) belongs to the family of medicines called antivirals. Antivirals are used to treat infections caused by viruses. Usually they work for only one kind or group of virus infections.

Topical acyclovir is used to treat the symptoms of herpes simplex virus infections of the skin, mucous membranes, and genitals (sex organs). Although topical acyclovir will not cure herpes simplex, it may help relieve the pain and discomfort and may help the sores (if any) heal faster. Topical acyclovir may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Please see the web pages for more details on Acyclovir (generic name) Zovirax (brand name).
Zovirax is an anti-viral drug used against herpes simplex ie cold sores. It is useless against allergies.

You are describing what is possibly urticaria, which is an allergic response to something...maybe you are using a biological washing powder? If so, change it to a NON-biological powder.

To ease the problem you could use Crotamiton cream (Eurax cream), applying lightly every 6 hours.

Keep the areas well-aired in hot weather, ie. no trousers or sleeves.
Avoid commercial moisturizers completely. These only serve to block your pores so that they can't breathe at all. The lotion itself may feel soothing, but it is doing serious damage in the process.

Get some pine tar soap in either bar or liquid form and wash the affected areas with this. Rinse with a solution of 50% apple cider vinegar and 50% water. Pat dry rather than rubbing. Additionally, ingest at least a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar every day. You can add it to your apple juice or a glass of water or make a kind of tea with it by adding it to a cup of steaming water or have a salad with apple cider vinegar and oil as the dressing. This will help work on the problem from the inside while you are working on the problem on the surface.

Not necessarily, but it does mean that the doctor thinks he has a viral versus a bacterial infection.

';zovirax cold sore cream'; or ';zovirax cream'; ?

It says you cant use the cold sore cream for genital herpes but I cant see why as the ingredients is the same. Does anyone know why ? Im a sufferer and have just bought the cold sore cream by mistake, and am too shy to ask for the other one.';zovirax cold sore cream'; or ';zovirax cream'; ?
Yes you can use it for genital herpes also it works for both even if they say its different it works for both so its okay but you shouldn't be shy to ask for somethingg that you are really in need for because its urgent you must get rid of the sores because it can do more damage ';zovirax cold sore cream'; or ';zovirax cream'; ?
If It says you cant use it for genital herpes dont use it because it will never work and heal your outbreak and you'll be suffering more. So I would just take it back and ask for the real treatment and do it that way, you may be shy to ask for the other one but thats what you got to do to be relief from pain because I know thoses ozzing sores hurt like a b*****. I've never experience this , but I feel so bad for you that you have to go thru such pain. They may say the same ingredients but its just not made for the right genital herpes 2 treatment to use down there.

  • Hello, i think im getting a cold sore , a few months ago the dr gave me Zovirax cream?

have anyone used the Zovirax cream before and did its works rite a way.Hello, i think im getting a cold sore , a few months ago the dr gave me Zovirax cream?
I used it for genital herpes sores and it worked fine. It doesn't work right away though. It still took days for my sores to completely disappear.

I personally think the oral medication is easier to take, but if you would rather use the cream that's fine too. I take acyclovir (Zovirax) for my outbreaks.Hello, i think im getting a cold sore , a few months ago the dr gave me Zovirax cream?
I've never used the cream. My doctor gives me acyclivir and it works amazing.
I suffer from them at least once a year...this year ive already had two...ive never heard of what your talking about, but I'm very into natural remedies and peppermint oil from the health food store works wonders!!! Mine were gone within 3-5days!!! (with abreva or lysine it took over a week still)
I have not used that cream but do know that no cream will get rid your cold sore immediately. It is caused by a virus, you can lessen the pain and healing time with Abreva but it will take about a week to completely heal depending on how big it gets..good luck
I get cold sores all the time and they are gross so i feel your pain, I have used that cream and it does work however the best thing if you get them often is to take valtrx daily, i know when you hear that pill you thing of Genital herpes but thats not just what it is used for, it will cut the amount of cold sores you get in half! try it out
I have tried prescriptions and I have found that they don't work as well as taking Lysine supplements.

Lysine, an amino acid, supresses the the virus. If I take the Lysine supplements right when I think I am getting a cold sore, it either stops me from getting one, or the cold sore only lasts one or two days.

    Seriously, it works great!!!!!

.Zovirax Cream is excellent for the treatment of the Herpes sores. Zovirax is used to treat herpes infections of the skin, lip, and genitals; herpes zoster (shingles); and chickenpox. It does not cure herpes infections but decreases pain and itching and promotes healing. Topical Zovirax does not prevent the recurrence of sores but may decrease pain and itching if applied when the earliest symptoms first appear. Oral Zovirax decreases the frequency and severity of recurrent sores, but it is used only by people with severe herpes infections because of possible adverse effects.

Zovirax cream and Pill for Cold sores?

I had my cold sore for 5 days now - and was at scabbing stage. I just got the Zovirax cream and pill. Used the cream and while checking the cold sore the scab fell off but it wasnt ready to fall off! So what I want to know whether its alright to put the Zovirax cream on the cold sore even though the scab fell off? Would it work on healing it or should I just take the pill and keep it dry?Zovirax cream and Pill for Cold sores?
I think the pill works much better.

I was given acyclovir (Zovirax) ointment and pills and the pills worked much better for me. The cream is just messy and doesn't seem to work as well.

Good luck!Zovirax cream and Pill for Cold sores?
Zovirax kills the virus cells and stops them spreading. Put it on the sore. If you pull at the scabs then you delay the process.. so in future, just put zovirax on as soon as you notice the tingling feeling before the sore develops... and let the scab fall of naturally.

Take the pill too. It will not harm you to double up.
